COURSE PLANNING for 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR
Starting this past December, the Casa Roble Counseling team has been working with all students in 11th grade English, 10th grade World History and 9th grade PE 1 classes. Students are learning about graduation and a-g requirements and opportunities available to them next year, such as CTE programs, Honors, Advanced Placement and ARC Dual Enrollment courses. They are then making their course selections for next year and updating their Naviance Course Plans. If you haven't seen it yet, ask your student to show you the photo of their course requests. Course requests for next school year will be finalized later this spring.
SPRING SAT TESTING for JUNIORS ATTENDING CASA ROBLE
Casa will be offering spring SAT testing for juniors only on Tuesday, March 4th. The cost of the exam is $68 on Go Fan. If this is a financial burden, please see your counselor. The application deadline is Wednesday, February 12th.
AP EXAM PAYMENT DEADLINE
All AP exams must be paid for by Friday, March 7th at 11:59pm. Make payments online at https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/052284. All families of AP students received deadlines and instructions via email.
SENIORS
CSU Application Deadlines Extended!
- Many CSU campuses have extended their application deadline. Apply at www.calstate.edu/apply.
- Students applying to private schools via the common application should make an appointment with their counselor to discuss the process. Letters of recommendation and additional information are required.
- Application checking - please make sure you create and check your online application portal for each school you applied for. It is here that schools may request additional documentation or information to move your applications along. Not all schools will email you directly for missing components of your application!
Financial Aid
- The FREE application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa and the California Dream Act (CADAA) https://dream.csac.ca.gov/landing is open. Apply by March 2, 2025, to be considered for Cal Grant funds and qualify for free college through Los Rios.
- Starting October 1 through the March 2 Cal Grant deadline, students and families can attend FREE Cash for College workshops across California for help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or and Chafee Grant for Foster Youth applications. For more information come to the counseling office and pick up a flyer.
DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENTS
Please remember to keep in contact with your professors if you have questions or your grades are not being updated periodically. The last day to drop without a "W" is February 2. Email your counselor ASAP if you are considering dropping.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Stop by the counseling office for more information and a current list of scholarships.
- THE WOMEN’S THURSDAY CLUB OF FAIR OAKS scholarships are available to senior students who possess academic potential, and the desire to continue his/her education beyond high school. Both boys and girls are eligible to apply. Each scholarship will be in the amount of $1,500. Community college, four-year college, university, and accredited vocational school bound seniors should apply! Submit application here. The submission deadline is March 10th by 8pm.
- THE CRYSTAL RODRIGUEZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION will once again award several of our college bound seniors (two or four-year institutions) with scholarships for their first year of school. Applications are now available in the counseling office and are due March 14th, 2025. A minimum 3.0 GPA with some evidence of financial need is required. Community activities and letters of recommendation are also considered. Finalists will also be interviewed. Crystal Rodriguez (Andrews) was a 2007 graduate of Casa Roble who passed away far too early at the age of twenty-two. Crystal loved life and was very involved on campus via soccer and student government. Her spirit lives on as we honor her memory through this scholarship.
- GFWC ORANGEVALE WOMEN’S CLUB is offering two $2,500 College scholarships in 2025. In addition, they are offering one $2,500 scholarship to an accredited Trade School. Applicants must be a graduating senior who resides in or attends High School in Orangevale. Male and female students can apply. Applications are available in the counseling office, the deadline to apply is Friday, March 28th.
- ORANGEVALE GRANGE #354 will be offering $500 scholarships to graduating seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or above. This scholarship is for College or Trade School bound seniors. Deadline to apply is April 2nd. Applications are available in the counseling office.
- THE RAM BOOSTERS SCHOLARSHIP is now available! ANY student participating in a Casa extracurricular activity with a minimum 3.0 GPA is eligible to apply. Parents or applicants must have been a Ram Boosters member for at least 2 years. Applications are due no later than Sunday, April 20th, 2025 @ 11:59pm.
